Accounting Manager

As the first full-time member of our accounting and finance team, you will lead all accounting operations including general ledger, payables, receivables, revenue recognition, and payroll. Additionally, you’ll manage the financial reporting, budgeting and planning for the organization and will be responsible for managing the company’s financials and supporting executive decision making.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead all accounting operations, including general ledger, payables, receivables, revenue recognition, and payroll
  • Lead the conversion of the company’s financials from cash to accrual-basis
  • Coordinate and direct the financial close process including full-cycle monthly and year-end accounting
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting for internal and external audiences
  • Provide support to leadership, and functional area leaders on a broad range of accounting, financial, internal control and compliance issues
  • Maintain cash flow forecast and regular analysis of cash requirements
  • Oversee stock option and capitalization administration
  • Manage external vendors, including audit, tax and valuation efforts
  • Manage annual budgeting process, maintain rolling forecast, and report variances
  • Oversee finance-related HR functions including employee onboarding and offboarding, expense policies, benefits administration, and 401K administration
  • Lead technical accounting matters, including revenue recognition
  • Comply with federal, state, and local governments’ legal and reporting requirements and filings

Are you the right fit?

  • 3-5 years relevant financial and accounting experience
  • Strong technical accounting skills with attention to detail
  • Strong written and communication skills; ability to speak to leadership, partners, and customers  
  • High level of comfort working in a dynamic and evolving environment
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and working style - self-starter, highly accountable, ability to anticipate problems and define and implement effective solutions
  • Experience working in Xero accounting software is a plus, but not required
  • CPA certification required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

Business Development Associate (Enterprise)

What will you be doing?

Evolve Security is looking for a Business Development Associate to support the Business Development and Sales/Solution Delivery teams.

This role is focused on building our sales pipeline with potential clients interested in improving their security posture. You are involved in the full sales cycle from prospecting, to quote generation, to assisting/negotiating contracts, and managing client expectations.

Additionally, you will analyze business competition, maintain corporate contact lists via CRM (HubSpot) and may assist with the development of marketing material. You will partner with marketing, sales and production managers to create and implement business strategies to increase brand awareness and sales.

The ideal candidate is comfortable building a prospecting pipeline and holding introductory scoping conversations. This person will have the drive to eventually hold scope review calls, conduct live demonstrations of the Evolve Security reporting platform, and maintain the client relationship leading to sales cycle completion. Evolve Security’s culture is rooted in cybersecurity education. We are looking for candidates who are eager to grow their understanding of cybersecurity and our methodological approach to enterprise services by participating in the Evolve Security Academy Bootcamp.

Evolve Security is a fast-paced startup and this is a growth opportunity role to take on new responsibilities and advance within the organization as it expands.

This is a Salary + Commission position.

Responsibilities include:

Customer Prospecting:

  • Uncovering new business opportunities and generating qualified inbound and outbound leads through targeted prospecting using company resources, online networking tools, social media, business directories, referrals and networking at local events to maintain the monthly/quarterly Business Development team quota.
  • Implementing lead generation best practices and creatively innovating your own strategies through email templates, A/B sales messaging/testing methodologies, list segmentation, and limited cold calling.
  • Representing Evolve Security at networking and marketing events.

Managing the Sales Lifecycle:

  • Communicating value proposition clearly and confidently.
  • Emailing/calling/following up with prospective customers and existing accounts in target verticals and building rapport with new clients.
  • Setting up on-site meetings between prospective customers and with members of the Sales/Solution Delivery team.
  • Reviewing scope, business drivers, alignment, cost & timing with clients considering partnering with Evolve Security, and ultimately working to negotiate fair trades.
  • Ability to work with the delivery team to craft new solutions to client problems.


  • Building an understanding of cybersecurity and our methodological approach to enterprise services with a curiosity to keep learning as the industry changes.

Are you the right fit?

  • Enthusiasm for Technology or IT Security.
  • 2 to 4 years of sales, marketing, recruiting or account management experience (technology/security/software industry is advantageous).
  • Solid organizational skills including researching, list making and managing client provided information.
  • Confidence and experience working with clients via phone, video/screen share, and email with comfort, creativity and curiosity (familiar with consultative sales approaches).
  • High energy, positive attitude, and desire to learn while growing a younger/high growth sales organization.
  • CRM experience (Maintaining records in Hubspot, Salesforce, Sugar, etc. is helpful).
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with ability to manage data in excel and having a sharp eye for document formatting, writing and presentations.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited University.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.

Part - Time Cybersecurity Instructor (Chicago-only)

Evolve Security is looking for a part time Cybersecurity Instructor to join our team!

What will you be doing?
We are building out our pool of Evolve Security Academy instructors and looking for security professionals passionate about training new security talent. Share your knowledge and expertise with individuals passionate about entering the cybersecurity field.

PRO In-Person Bootcamp:

  • Location: Chicago, IL in the Merchandise Mart at 1871
  • Time commitment:  Classes meet Monday - Thursday from 6pm - 9pm
    CST and every other Saturday from 10am - 3pm (~15 hours per week)

REMOTE Online Bootcamp:

  • Location: Video conference
  • Time commitment:  Classes meet Monday - Thursday from 7pm - 9pm CST (~12 hours per week)

Instructors lead discussions, provide analysis of security concepts, facilitate hands-on labs, support students in their projects and challenges, and provide feedback to students. Throughout the course, the lead instructor’s efforts are complemented by Evolve Security video modules and advisor support.

Responsibilities include:

  • The overall training and success of the student cohort
  • Daily delivery and facilitation of curriculum, instruction, reviews and labs
  • Communicate advanced security concepts
  • Enhance curriculum and labs
  • Serve as a mentor to students
  • Manage processes for effective student learning

Are you the right fit?

  • Four or more years of information security experience
  • Familiarity with hardening cloud environments such as AWS and Azure
  • Experience with OWASP
  • Proficiency in administering Linux and Windows servers
  • In depth knowledge of offensive and defensive security capabilities
  • Formal teaching or instruction experience

Desired skills:

  • Knowledge of hiring process for security analysts
  • Proficiency in Python
  • Experience working with enterprise security teams, commercial tools and open source security tools
